STARKVILLE COUNTRY CLUB
NEWSLETTER
AUGUST 2004
It has been a busy summer. We have made many changes. One of the changes included the design of the
Starkville Country Club web page. The
web page is located at
One of the biggest challenges with the web page will be keeping the
information current. To aid us in doing
so, we are in the process of improving our computer set-up at the Club. So please bear with us.
A great way to communicate with
members about upcoming events is the use of e-mail. If we do not have your current e-mail
address, please submit your address to Club staff at your earliest
convenience. You can leave it at the pro
shop or send it to
Starting in September, to encourage
members to be part of Starkville Country Club’s e-mail address book, a drawing
will be held once a month giving away one free Sunday Buffet. (Any member who
does not have an e-mail address can still participate in the drawing. Please contact Club staff to have your name
added.)

FROM THE
PRESIDENT
We are
having a great year so far at SCC in 2004.
Be sure to thank Scott and all of his employees every chance you get
because without them we have no Club. I
want to remind everyone of the active committees we have here at SCC and would
strongly encourage you, if so inclined, to get
involved with one or more of them. The
committees and board member liaisons are as follows:
Tournament - Roger Smith Rules -
Bill Robinson
Social - Larry Tabor Tennis
- Bobby Crosland
Pool - Mike Andrews Membership
- Mary Howard
Finance/Long
Range Planning -
Emmett Smitherman
Greens -
Bay Black/Blair McKinley
We will be
working real hard to schedule some activities in the Fall/Winter. If you have any suggestions, please let us
know. Your continued participation in
the Club activities is crucial to our success going forward.
Sincerely,
Bobby
Crosland
BINGO AT
THE CLUB
Thursday
night Bingo was a huge success.
Unfortunately weekly Bingo is over for the summer. Starting in September, the Club will host one
Bingo Night per month. Date to be announced.

FOR ALL
WOMEN INTERESTED IN GOLF
Women’s
Golf is growing at Starkville Country Club... and we would like for it to grow
more. All levels of experience are
welcome... our objective is simple, to have fun. We would like to remind you of the following
activities and encourage all who are interested in the game of golf, having a
good time, or just being with a really great group of women, to come out.
Group
Lessons: Wednesday afternoon
6:00 to 7:00 PM. The cost is just
$10. Great for beginners to help with
the basics and for the more experienced to improve their game.
Thursday
Scramble: We tee
off at 5:30 PM and play at scramble format.
Very relaxed and fun for all levels of play.
Women’s
club Championship: August 28, 29
Everyone is
invited to participate. The best way to
get better at golf is to play golf. Sign
up now in the pro shop for this 2-day tournament.
Women’s
Golf Association Meeting: Thursday, August 12
All women
interested in golf are encouraged to attend this re-organizational
meeting. We need your input and ideas on
expanding our membership and activities.
More tournaments? A group
play in the mornings? More fun
activities or socials? (This date is a change due to conflict at club on
August 5.)
We need
your help!
Our
fundraiser for the year will be manning the concession stand during the
upcoming James McKenzie Memorial 3 Man Scramble on August 14 and 15. Anyone interested in helping please call Mary
Howard at 324-4743 or after 6:00 at 323-6830.
